so today is day 20 of incubating and i went in to lock down on day 18 one chick as already hatched and one egg pipped and when i seen the pip i seen the chick pecking the pip and then after that alittle while later it started pecking again but know theres no movement the humidity is staying around 65 to 70 and the temp is stating at 102 should i candle and see if shes still alive and if i do hoe long do i have to candle it please help this is only my second hatch should i help it hatch :fl:idunno

It's generally advised to wait at least 24 hours from when they first pip before trying to help out. You are likely to hurt the chick if you try to help too soon. They pip externally, then they pause while they finish absorbing their yolk, and the rest of the blood from the membrane, before moving to unzip the egg. So there's still a lot of work the little chick has to do before it is ready to enter the world. :fl

I would leave it alone and leave the incubator shut.
Messing with it or trying to assist at this stage will do more harm then good IMO.
Some chicks pip, zip and hatch others take breaks through out the process.
I wouldn't panic yet.

It’s quite normal for them to take a rest, it’s very hard work getting out that shell. Your humidity sounds correct and your temperature is correct (for still air incubator). How long has the chick been pipping? I suspect everything is fine but if the worst has happened and the chick has died there’s nothing to be gained by removing the egg but if you lift the lid you risk shrink wrapping the others.

it has pipped a little hole and the piece of shell is still on there hoe long do yall think it will take her to hatch:fl

Could be a little while. Just be patient. I've stepped in too early before (I had a quail that seemed stuck after 24 hours but still wasn't ready to hatch). It's a nervous wait, I know!

yes it is a nervous wait the chick is really working on the pip and now theres a piece of shell of thanks so much for your tips and help i think she will hatch tonight:woot:pop:celebrate:fl thanks so much everyone :frow

now the chick did break a piece of shell of but from what i can see from the incubator the membrane did not break open and i can see i think her beak sitting on it is this ok thanks

I would let the chick do all the work because its needs to absorb the yoke into it belly. Just be patient because you don't want a chick out of the shell before it absorbs yoke. God bless
