Are you seeing mites on them?If so get poultry dust. Or there is a product called putty protector. Sounds to me like they are being very well cared for. I wasn’t referring to you as keeping them in horrid conditions just stating what would cause then to have an infestation. My chickens had mites and I clean their coops daily and feed and water them daily happened anyway, but my waterfowl didn’t get them which I assumed was because they have water to bathe in.

Sorry, I didn't answer your earlier question: no, I haven't seen any mites on them. I did recently have to treat our barn cat for fleas and we do have chiggers and fleas on this property. I am trying to find a spray that is safe to use around the birds, to treat the yard. (Without poisoning it)

Boy that sure looks like he may have eaten some of the tarp. My goose did the same thing one time but thankfully she didn't have any trouble pooping it out. she was pulling the strings too where it had frayed.

Safeguard is fendbendazole, you can use the liquid safeguard for goats and safeguard horse dewormer, I use the horse wormer on my birds occasionally.

Dosage for safeguard horse dewormer paste (fendbendazole) is 0.23 ml per pound once a day, usually for 5 days. The liquid goat wormer is the same dosage. With both you do need a syringe to get the right dosage though.

As for the pills, I can’t say, I’ve never used them and honestly the dosage seems confusing to me looking at the bottle.

the last 2 days i gave my geese (i have 2 pilgrims )
safeguard horse paste
(for suspected giardia - my dog has it - confirmed by vet)
they weigh 10 and 10.5 pounds
and i gave 0.7 ml each bird.
3 more days to go and my fingers are already bleeding.

I worry now am I underdosing?? !! .
0.23ml x 10 lb bird is 2.3ml
that is close to 3 times more than Ive been giving!

Yeah you’ve been underdosing.
For a 10 lb bird the dose per day should be 2.3 ml a day
For a 10.5 lb bird that should be roughly 2.4 ml a day.

Birds take a higher dosage per pound than mammals with many medications because their digestive system works so quickly. What goes in one end goes out the other in 2 to 4 hours, not a lot of time to be absorbed.

Giardia is really hard to eradicate, I haven’t managed to eradicate it from my flock, so some things you can try is:
Clean water bowls, food bowls and pools with soap, clean out areas where they frequent. Giardia lives in soil, and can be tracked in on animal and human feet, keeping the geese out of areas where there’s dog feces or water run off from where the dog has been can help.
ammonia is an effective giardia killer but you don’t want your birds around the fumes for a few hours. Long term direct sunlight with hot temperatures is also effective on surfaces.
Probiotics can help repair the gut and protect it, as the giardia is killed off you want to fill up that newly free relestate in the intestines with beneficial bacteria.
