CA, always with my chickens!
So my pullet, Casper, who is 4 months and a week old, was alone for two weeks since we had to give our rooster Popcorn away. She was grumpy. We got her a hen today , and we named her Jupiter. We have no idea how old Jupiter is, but she is a laying hen and probably over a year old. We let them see each other, then we put them in the coop. I have never done this before and i was hoping i wasn't putting to much stress on them. There was some pecks. Jupiter had been living with roosters and hens(the man made sure the roos did not fertilize her eggs, he only used a couple of hens for that), so she knows how to do the whole dominance pecking order thing. Jupiter was looking dominant. There was some loud clucks and a loss to a few feathers, but that was all. I checked on Casper and took her out and held her, looking for any injuries. On her neck, under feathers, i found a big gash across her neck. It still had some wet blood on it and it must of been from Jupiter pecking her really hard. We tried to tab some of the blood of and gave her ointment for it to heal. We separated Casper and Jupiter, and Casper is in the coop and Jupiter is in a crate thing to them calm down. We are going to put Jupiter back into the coop when its dark out and their tired and not as awake. I swear I almost cried for Casper. I knew she was in pain and i was sorry for her and i feel like this whole thing is my fault. I was just trying to do the right thing. I know both of them are stressed out, and i don't know what to do for them. there are no wounds of Jupiter. What should i do for them? What should i do for Casper? HELP!

Chickens can be so stressful sometimes. We try our best but sometimes they just don't seem to understand what is best for them.

You might want to wait longer before putting them together. Try keeping them apart a few days, letting Casper heal and let them see one another. It is possible the gash came from the hen, but could it also have been from Casper running into something while trying to get away?
Make sure the cut stays clean and keep putting medicine on it to prevent infection.

Best of luck to you and your hens!

Oh! We already put her in the coop. Jupiter seemed tired and sleepy and relaxed and i don't think she knows she has to go up onto the roost box yet. She had a different coop than our coop. We will keep a VERY close eye on Casper and try to town down the pecking. We are going to check on Casper's wound every day cleaning it until it gets better. And it's very dark out and hard to see in the coop and Jupiter is really fast. Is this okay?

Probably. Just make sure they aren't locked up together in the coop for long after the sun comes up, as they may start fighting again.

Yeah. We had a short talk. I wake up early in the morning naturally and so we are going to take out Jupiter and put her in a different cage again, but in front of the coop so they can see each other. I hope this goes well!

If the weather is hot, if she drank a lot, or if she hasn't eaten much lately, she may just have loose droppings. Keep an eye on them and if she continues to have them. If she does, then you cat get concerned.
