My roosters have been decreasing in weight and tail feathers but my hens are all well fed and has a healthy feather condition at first i thought it was just the roosters fighting but i realised it was the hens attacking my roosters keeping them away from the food and occasionally bullying them. My one rooster has gotten a bad leg because of this i put him apart from the others but today he will not eat and is cold i put him in the sun with some food and water. luckily he started to drink but made a weird gasping noise i checked his throat but found nothing can someone please help me?

Have you added any new birds to your flock in the last few weeks, who might have been a carry for some common disease? Are any of the roosters molting? Are any roosters juveniles? Can you tell us their ages? Have you checked for lice or mites? Have you wormed them recently? Most flocks cannot support more than 1 or 2 roosters. How many roos and how many hens? Pictures of them or missing feathers is a good thing to post. You may want to separate the ones with missing feathers and feed them separately. Place some feed and water in multiple spots where the chickens are hanging out, so everyone has a chance to get some.

No i haven't added any chickens to this flock there are 24 hens and 3 roosters and my chickens are all 24 weeks and they also do have a variety of places to drink water from. A other problem with my chickens is that they don't lay eggs and the roosters will not mate with my hens. I will show a foto of one of my hens and then the sick rooster.

The rooster on the right is hunched and looks poorly. Is he eating at all? Try mushy wet chicken feed and a bit of egg. Can you get Corid to treat him for possible coccidiosis? I still think you have too many roosters. You could separate the 3 roosters from the hens and treat them all with Corid. Usually if you take a rooster out of the flock, the other 2 might beat him up when he returns. So I would keep them together and then when he recovers, they all could go back together. Too many roosters can create havoc among the hens. You could get by fine with 2 or even just one.

Corid dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5 days. Change it daily. You can treat at 1/4 of that dose for an additional 5 days. Give no b vitamins while on Corid. Are you in the US? Amprollium or Amprol, and Coxoid, is the equivalent of Corid.
