PLEASE HELP! new chicks....wormy looking poop??? (PICS)

I had a chick just last month who made poops like that! At first I was freaked out by it, but upon disecting it (I know-- gross, but I'm the scientific type), it just looks like "poop sausage". It is like it's encased by intestinal mucus or something to hold the poop in that worm-like shape. Mine too was a newly hatched chick which I had hatched at home from my own flock. after a couple of weeks its poop didn't look like that anymore. He's also the most tame, vigorous, robustly healthy acting bird that I have of his age. I really doubt that they are actual worms. those worms would be much too large to be living in the intestines of a day old chick. It takes at least a month for any worm to grow from worm egg to that size. they live off of digested food, don't they? chicks don't have any food in their intestines before they hatch, do they? and yes, intestinal parasites end up in the intestine because they were ingested. Good luck with this and I hope that what I wrote makes sense to you.

I wonder if worms can be passed from the hen to the egg? Then the worm could be 1 month old at hatching...

Not sure what it is, but if there was a worm in the egg, the chick doesn't even have a digestive tract for the first while, and... so I don't know how that would work really... Did the chick by any chance eat food and then not digest it, or that fall into the water by other means than poo?

I know that someone posted a pic recently of an egg with a roundworm inside it. If it can be in the egg, I am sure it can be in the chick. When hatcched, their digestive tract may not be fully up and working, but it is there. These could have lived in the yolk sack until it (and they) were fully absorbed by the chick.
