Sir Henry is one week old today and has been drinking and eating medicated starter.

He has normal (greenish with white) bm and has been fairly chirpy.

Today he jumped out of his pen and we quickly returned him to his new pen (one he can't get out of).

He fell right to sleep when I put him in there and now justs sleeps. I can lay him on his back or side and he just lays his head down and goes to sleep.

He has been getting poly vi sol in his water.

He also has no discharge from his nose or mouth.

What is wrong with our little guy?

I have started him on terramycin (about 5 minutes ago).

He does have a heat lamp and the hottest part of the pen is 105 F and then it cools down to 70 F.

This is so jumpy in my thoughts. I just want to make sure I give all pertinent information.

Please help.

Just an update.

Sir Henry won't open his eyes. I dunked his little beak in water and he opened them for a short time. about the time it took to swallow.

I scrambled an egg and tried to feed it to him. He took one unwilling swallow.

His BM is white.

Could this have something to do with his jump from his pen? There doesn't seem to be any broken bones. It was about a 3 foot drop onto carpet. When I hold him he does act hurt.

For several hours after the fall he was running around like normal.

Could he be lonely? I do have a mirror in his pen so he sees another chick. He is the only survivor of his hatch. The others died before they were able to hatch.

I wish I knew the answer for you. Right now, I'm dealing with the sick pullet. We took her to the vet and they put on antibiotics. She's responded well, but I wouldn't know anything about giving antibiotics to one-week-old chick like Sir Henry. If you have an avian veterinarian in the area, you might just give them a call and find out if they have any suggestions. The vitamins seem like a great idea. They really helped our Butchie. We're still having to force feed her some, although she's eating on her own a bit. One thing I can tell you is that when my chicks were one week old, they jumped all over the place, so I doubt the 3 foot fall did Sir Henry any damage. Good luck. I wish I had the answers, but I'll be pulling for Sir Henry.

I'm really sorry. It's hard to lose a pet.
