We have 4 RIR hens and a roo and we were getting eggs pretty regular since Oct '09, well pretty regular until about four days ago. We got 4 eggs this past Sunday and then on Mon. we only got 1. Well the weather is pretty cold here and I just attributed the lack of eggs to lack of heat...until Tue. when I went in to sit and visit and found a part of a shell. Then today when hubby went collecting eggs he found two; one good one and one was just an empty shell.
This building is varmit proof, we converted an old shed and when we were converting we used 1/2 inch wire to cover all the cracks and openings so nothing can get in or out unless it's thru the open door.
If it's as we suspect and a chicken or chickens are eating eggs how do we make them stop other than by "chicken soup"?
