I wormed my 4 RIR's with wazine 17 3 days ago. One hen had the runs and saw a white pea shaped thing in her poop but she ate it before I could scoop it up and look at it. So as mentioned I wormed her and the others. Two days ago I noticed that she was lethargic and isolated her in a very very large dog crate. First I syringed her with electrolytes and then she drank for about an hour and a half after ...non stop. She is eating very very little practically nothing. I did notice that she is shaking her head a lot and do not see any mites but do not know whether to go ahead and treat her topically with ivermectan . (spelling?) If so I need to dash out and purchase it and hoping someone could give me an idea as to what to do next. I am still giving her electrolytes in her water and she is still drinking. She is not peppy but then again I do not know if it is do to stress from being in the crate.

As for her not eating I do not know why...and do not know if I should start antibotics also. I have in my stash Duramycin 10 and Vet Rx. I am trying hard to study on what to do...and need help.

I did see her attempt to eat clover through the wire crate ...why she would not eat food has me baffled.

For Worming I would use another product beside Wazine, it is only good for one type of worm. I use Valbezan goat wormer but you can also Use Safeguard goat wormer or Zimectrin Gold Horse Wormer.. You should be able to see the mites if she has them, you treat with Ivermectin drop on the back and on the tail.

Read through this thread.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/773318/do-my-chickens-have-worms/60#post_11516391

I do have safeguard here...would you still worm now since I did wazine 17 3 days ago?

I am trying to figure why she is shaking her head so much and why I was thinking of the Ivermectin that I saw a video on that supposedly Ivermectin could be used to treat mites, lice and worms at the same time when done topically with 1 cc applied on the back of the neck (what was shown in the video) I am so confused.

I believe you would be good to do that, I don't use the safeguard so you will have to read through that post and get the dosage..

Read the Post well by Dawg53, always good advice there.

sent Dawg53 a message. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I will hear from him soon.

Guess Dawg53 is busy this weekend. My gal is still not doing well and need some recommendations. Wish I had a vet local to take her to. :( I have tried for days hoping to get some input as it is
valuable time for her.

If It was my bird I would go ahead and dose her, It sounds like she started feeling bad after the initial worming. It may clean the rest of them out of her by using the Valbezan. .5ml for standard bird. I would keep giving electrolite water and maybe try the yogurt and some mash.

I take it that she is not showing any respiratory problems with the head shaking, have you looked down her mouth to see if it may be Gapeworm?
