I am trying to get a general idea on how much money I need to earn if I want to add on to my run. It will be 8 x 10, but it only needs 3 sides. No roof needed, just a super simple box with 3 sides that is like 4 ft tall.. Thanks! I am in WA BTW.

I would do two 10 foot and two 8 foot 2X6's or 2X8's for the bottom "rail" of the run so that you can do deeper litter if you want. Then two 10 foot and two 8 foot 2 by 4's for the "top" rail that is 4 feet off the ground. I would go with vertical 4X4's at the corners. Since it is 4 feet tall, you need two 8 foot 4X4's. Cut in half to make 4 posts. I would also probably want to use a 2 by 4 midway down both the 8 foot and 10 foot sides, so another two 8 foot 2X4's.

That would actually be extra wood overall since you only want 3 sides.

Summary:
Two 10 foot 2X6's or 2X8's for the 10 foot long bottom rail
Two 8 foot 2X6's or 2X8's for the 8 foot long bottom rail
Two 10 foot 2X4's for the top rail.
Four 8 foot 2X4's (for the top rail and the mid-span verticals)
Two 8 foot 4X4's (for the 4 corners)

If you wanted a roof, then you would also want some wood spanning in the middle, but you said you don't want a roof.

Go to HomeDepot.com and price out that wood. I would use pressure treated wood.

That doesn't include hardware cloth either...
Thanks! I already have the wire from the run I just built ( has a roof)... It just looks too small for my Chickie's babies!

Post what you already have and need to add onto.
Tposts and field fencing would be easiest....maybe $100.
Pretty hard to quote a price without a design and materials specified.

The lumber I would need would cost like $70! And since I already have great wire, that is all I must earn!

this is my poultry palace in progress!:weeit is called " Lai Lai Erets" or Hebrew for " La La Land"
