My daughters chicken, Hash Brown is about 12 weeks old. Last week she started sneezing and holding her beak open and sticking her neck out. The sneeze is really loud, not normal. We were hoping it was just a cold and she would get better on her own. But last night she started walking funny, she is very unstable and falls over. She is still sneezing and holding her mouth open and shaking her head after the sneeze. She is eating and drinking, her eyes are clear and her droppings look good but seem smaller then usual.
We seperated her last night, I have her under a heat lamp and added apple cider vinager to her water. I don't know what else to do, I need advice!!!
Also should I treat the rest on my 14 young chickens (12 wks and under) all with antibiotics, if yes, what kind??
I have got to save her, my 9 yr old daughter loves her so much.

It could be a couple of things... upper respiratory illness, pox, vit A deficiency > this (vitA def.) is usual with both conditions but if severe can, on its own, can cause such symptoms (to treat this get POLYVISOL enfamil formulation (no iron) and give four drops in beak once a day for 7-10 days then taper off a week > do this in addition to any medicinal course of action you may follow) > this is a liquid childrens vitamin A-B-D supplement.
What is the weather and housing environment ? What feed are they on?
Look in their beak (do this in the evening when they are a bit sleepy and tease their beak open gently and hold open in place to examine with something like a wooden popsicle stick or such... look for gunk, placques and note the color. Also look note anything else of note and dont forget to look at the top inside the beak)
When they sneeze is it a wet sneeze? Do they sound congested? are their eyes watery?
Are their any "bumps" on their face or such?
Please use the search function and the keywords (each separately) of "sneezing" and "cold" and "pox"... there are a lot of threads with lots of info to help you determine which of the two they might have....you can start them on the polyvisol right away and yes do separate the birds showing symptoms from the rest (with their own separate water and food supply of course)
