I have a duck that can't walk all of the sudden. It's been about a week that it started. She would just hop like she had a sprain and then yesterday she stopped walking all together. Her legs move, but she can't stand or hold her weight. She has been just been laying around, and pushes herself where she wants to go. She hasn't been eating or drinking much. About the same time that all this started I noticed one of her eyes was and is still  foaming. I started her on sav a chick electrolytes and probiotics today but she hasn't been drinking it. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with her? I really don't want to have to put her down, but it's getting to that point.... Please help!

How old is she, was she laying then stopped?

Here are some possibilities:

Egg bound
Egg yolk peritonitis
Internal infection other than peritonitis

If you can get a vet's help that is best.

But many ducks recover with proper treatment, vet or not.

If she is egg bound, she needs calcium and lukewarm tub time, don't leave her alone in the water.

If she has peritonitis, an oral or injectable antibiotic can help her. Same with other kinds of internal infections.

Sometimes there are internal parasites, so the proper medication for that is needed.

She is around 2 yrs old and stopped laying a day or two after she got sick. I checked to see if she was egg bound but didn't feel anything. I've never heard of the egg yolk peritonitis. What kind of injectable antibiotics can you give a duck without hurting it. I've never had a problem with any of my ducks so this is new to me. Thank you so much for responding :)

You may be able to send the body for a necropsy to know what happened.
