One of my reds, Henrietta, has very swollen wattles. My wife noticed this afternoon when she got home. I checked her out this evening when I got home, only to find her outside on the roost while the others had already gone in. Her wattles are bright red ( as usual) but look full of fluid. Her demeanor is sluggish and uninterested.
She is very friendly, and generally sqwalks at me until I pick her up or she can fly up on my shoulder (she lives for a free ride around the yard lol) but today made not a peep when I came up.
Ive removed her from the flock, put her in a crate in the shed with her own rations. I read on BYCs forums that a half of a Benadryl was safe so I gave her that. She has no fluids or discharges, vent feet and eyes look great. When I fed her by hand she attacked the food moreso than I've ever seen, like she was starving! I flicked some water at her and she drank (it's been in the 90s and up all week) and seemed to improve right after some water got in her.
What on earth could this be??
