Please help! Trying to figure out transition from brooder to coop!

they mostly returned to the coop in the evening on their own but we often had to herd them in which was kind of pain and we were hoping to avoid this time...
A nightlight helps them go inside at sunset. 20190527_203434-2.jpg . If you don't want to run an extension cord, get one of these. 20200412_074015_resized.jpg . It's $5.99 and comes with batteries. I have them in my coops in case the power goes out. GC

They will learn that treats happen in the coop in the evening and get in the habit.;)
Herding is really frustrating, but I ditto that about the treats. My girls (8 weeks?) come running when they hear me approach and all follow me into the coop. I finally got smarter than them and put a string on the door so I could pull it closed after the last one came in, so the bold ones didn't go out again when I got up to leave (and shut the door) myself.

I would be worried about the heat during the day. I would definitely let them in the run during the day just because of the temps. If you can start them out in the coop one day when it’s not so hot then let them out in the morning. If they don’t go back in on their own the worst thing that will happen is you’ll have to get them in. I didn’t find it that difficult.
