A friend had a goose sitting on eggs she thought were infertile. She got bored sitting and abandoned the nest so I put the eggs in the incubator just in case. The eggs had been cold for about 24 hours. Fast forward a week and I went on holiday and forgot about them. Got back today, went in to turn the bator off and there are two babies! Needless to say I don't have anything ready or any idea what I'm doing. I tried putting them in a box with a red heat lamp but they got cold and one went.realy still so I've put them back in the incubator and turned the temp down to 26 degrees as it was on 37 and I was worried it was too hot.
Is 26 degrees a good temp?
is there any reason they can't stay in the incubator over night?
How long before they should be able to stand up?
What food water requirements do they have and how soon do they need feeding? I've put water out for them but they are just laying in the warmth and occasionally cheering but not attempting to get up and drink.
Before I get savaged for knowing nothing, the eggs were a Hail Mary because I felt sorry for the goose, I wasn't planning on incubating.
