Does anybody have any ideas what it could. And i want to do something before any other birds get sick. PLEASE HELP URGENT!!!!

I had a Brahma hen that had wasted away and I didn't notice because her feathers were so full. I wormed her with Ivermectin and also dusted her for mites and lice. Not sure which treatment cured her, but she pulled through. Sometimes they are just too far gone when you start treatment.

Good luck, it was a guessing game for me.

This morning I went out to feed the girls and sadly Benny had passed away. It's been really hard because she was my little baby. She will forever be in my heart.

I'm not sure where you are, but where I live you can send your deceased chickens to UC Davis, and they will do a free necropsy (and send you the findings). That way you can know for sure what happened, and make sure it's not something that can be passed to your other chickens.

I'm really hoping my other chickens don't get whatever she had? Is there just a possibility of old age?

Three years old is definitely not old. It could have been many things but if you have never dewormed your flock and this bird has lost a lot of weight then worms would be at the top of my list. After that you have to consider cancer or some other internal problem. A bad infestation of mites can also weaken and eventually kill a chicken.

It would be a very good idea to deworm all your birds with Valbazen or Safeguard for goats. Both are liquid and easy to administer with a small, needless syringe. Also check all your birds carefully for mites. I check them all over during the day and I also go into the coop at night with a flashlight and look for mites on the roosts since they come out to feed at night.
