Well, ok, I guess he's old but until today I really thought he was about 3 years old, younger than my flock (he showed up in my backyard last year, migrating from a neighbor who was absent).
He's really a great companion, very sociable (tags along on walks with the dog) and has always seemed very spry and healthy. I really would like to do the best for him.
A neighbor with lots more chicken experience than me suggested that he probably got way overheated the other night, when the temps shot up, and is just still weak from that and may have had a stroke. He suggested I feed him a concentrated sugar-water solution (1/4 cup per gallon) to boost his energy.
I tried that and he does seem better. We'll see tomorrow.
