Please Help with Acurite

So my bator somehow turned off overnight(no egss yet). I moved it back to the first location I had it, where it did pretty well. Now after sitting all night, my Acu-rite therm just says HI on the humidity reading. I tried to clear it, and it just comes back-no % reading. It is brand new, and was working fine before last night! Any ideas, it must be something stupidly simple.

I dont want you to feel dumb but have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in?

If that doesn't work try a new battery.

You know, before I had a two year old tugging at me, I probably would've felt dumb if I didn't try that! I'll try that

That worked, but only for a few minutes-back to HI. Ug. I'll try a new battery.

how does a new bat work? if that fails is there a reset button on it? my springfield has a reset button when it messes up

It seems to have worked, although humidity now seems much higher than yesterday. Maybe it was on the fritz yesterday, and now it's right-I hope so!
