Please help with baby chick poop, is this normal??

Ive searched but cant seem to find anything that tells me if this is possibly a worm or if this is something normal with chicks? This is all new to me but ive got four 1 week old comet pullets. They are inside in a huge tote with heat lamp and they get fed medicated starter food. This one particular chick has made several poops today that look like this and im concernced. The others were about an inch or so long , kind of like a ramen noodle size and consistency?Whatever it is doesnt move or anything but no idea what it could be. They all eat well and act fine btw. I won't say that poop specimen is abnormal, but it's out of the ordinary for certain. Normally chick poops are tiny, dry and look more like wild bird poop, excepting the occasional cecal poop.

I take it this is one chick in particular. Have you observed any unusual behavior? Is the chick eating and drinking normally? Is it active or lethargic? If the chick is acting sick, then the poop has more significance.

It's highly unlikely there are worms involved.

If your chick is behaving normally, just keep a close eye on it. Occasionally, there will be a chick whose default poops are not like the other chicks. I got one of those five years ago. She is a Speckled Sussex, and the day I brought her home, she had watery squirts. She always behaved normally, and she's never been sick. But to this day, she poops nothing but watery poops. She's a great layer, too.

If your chick isn't sick, you may simply have one that has strange poops.

You might try to give the chicks some probotics in the water. When my girls systems were starting up I had several chicks with wet loose stool. I started them on Probios for poultry Probotic and within that week their stools were solid and firm. The probotic provides beneficial bacteria into their developing system and gives them a good start. PROBIOS Probotic offers more beneficial bacteria strains than most probotics. It lasts a long time and I give it to my hens as well. Chicks and adults alike benefit from probotics. The chicks system is starting up so it is especially helpful for them. It's made a positive difference with my chicks! Hope this helps and I wish the best for you and your flock. Don't worry about the odd apearence too much because remember their system is just getting started up. However they will definitely benefit from a good poultry Probotic.

No abnormal behavior at all, ill continue to keep an eye on her however. Strange poops is much better than worms, lol. Thanks for the reply !

My chicks are pooping the same kind of poo. Did yours turn out to be ok? Did you ever rule out worms?

I just had this happen and a really bad case of pasty butt on that chick. I cleaned its bottom daily for almost 7 days and was not getting better! It was losing all of the hair all over its butt, lethargic sleeping all the time. Within 12 hours this chick started to bounce back. 48 hours later, pasty butt is gone completely, haven’t even cleaned it today because it looks amazing!

Save a chick and powder probiotics with their food and all my chicks poops are great. Way better compared to first set of chicks I bought.

I offered them these food options to ensure they are getting all they need.

I lost a tiny chick and another member recommended blending the crumbles smaller. I did and they all love it and way better for the tinier silkies.

I just alternate daily and offer them one of the following. I premix save a chick to soak their mush. I will add nutridrench to either this or in their water.

- crumbles mixed with a tad bit of coconut oil, and yogurt.
-Crumbles mixed with scrambled egg cooked with coconut oil.
-crumbles and save a chick.

I offer them baby mealworms or small crickets every other day so have grit too.
