Hi I have a young Isa brown hen who had a big (not to be gross) sack?! of something on the back/bottom of her foot. It was see-through then one day I checked on her and it popped a clear thick liquid. I took her in rinsed off her foot, put some cream on it, wrapped it up for about 24 hours with gauze and medical wrap and put her back in the coop. She showed no sign of pain or discomfort.
Today I went out to let my chickies free range and decided to look at her foot. It has been a week sense her foot issue. I assumed it was a cyst but now the bottom is turning dark black and the sack is filling back up. I brought her in once a gain put the same cream on which seemed to help and wrapped it in gauze and paper tape. She has been an angel throughout this whole process and I don't want to loose her or have her suffer. She is in a coop with two older golden laced Wyandottes who are pretty nice and one Cochin bantam frizzle who is her best friend. I also noticed her beak is turning a blackish purple color but I put on some protection from frost bite about three times and she has lots of bedding, a heated perch and a heat lamp that stays on around three hours before bed. What is going on and what should do!?!? Anything helps Thx.

Hi there. The foot thing could be bumble foot, but I have no idea about the beak. Can you post pictures?
I think you will need to soak the foot. Possibly use a drawing salve. However, there are much more experienced people here who will have better answers.
What kind of cream did you use? What is on the floor/ground of the pen? I don’t know what the black means. Maybe there is blood in the fluid now? It sounds like the original fluid may have been pus, so she may end up needing an antibiotic. I am confident you will get more help here tgan I can offer, but I’ll be watching and chiming in when I can.

Sounds Like Bumblefoot To Me ..When I Encountered With This ..I Noticed In The Beginning Stage (When Redness Appeared) I Immediately Take Teaspoon Of Epsom Salt And Mustard Oil In Warm Water And Soak Chickens Feet In Water For 1-2 min Mustard Oil Is Antibacterial , Antifungal & Antiseptic Properties AND it Works so good against Staph ..
After warm. Wash I clean and dry her feet's apply some antifungal cream I got in my first aid namely "Safromycin" and bandaged it for night and next day redness were disappeared after that I apply essential oil of mint and mustard

Thx and I will certainly try to get photos. I put aquaphore on as the cream its like petroleum jelly but heals things faster. I have not seen any red as you say is the beginning stage to bumble foot though. So im so confused could I take her to a vet. And what kind of antibiotics should I get?

That would be great if u post pics ..
Maybe we are assuming Bumblefoot and actually there's something else going on maybe an injury that get Infected ..

If ur chicken is seems serious with this feet matter I suggest u to let the avian vet examine this matter ..if its just a minor case u can wait for about 24hrs to see some improvement or any new thing ..

Mostly Bumblefoot (staphylococcus infection) spread faster like fire ..u some dot type swelling 1st day , and then a pea type swelling next day and it will increases due to the fungi ..

Bumblefoot treatment is must within the first diagnosis ..if left untreated or confused with other diseases it will get worse life threatening or bird will able to lost feet ..

In some minor cases
Vet will clean the feet with solution
And prescribe some anti fungle ointment and antifungal medication ..

Like naystin , or metrogyl something ..

I pray for ur chicken speedy recover keep us updated
