Please help

I am not here to upset anyone, but I advocate for the chickens. They all look like they have very deep wounds and are more than likely in SERIOUS pain.

I suggest humanely euthanizing them. If this was a single chicken, a favorite pet perhaps, I could understand MAYBE trying to save it's life. With the shape ALL of these chickens are in, it would be better off for everyone involved to put them down.
I'm for euthanasia on the light colored bird those abdominal wounds look like nothing treatable without a good suture set and knowledge that isn't a simple flesh wound. Oh that is a top down on a wing and not abdomen? if so you can flush it my matron hound I am sure is still happy she is alive and had a similar injury due to a pit bull but that did cost around $650 to treat her right.

Debbie,
This is a tragic event for you as well as these poor birds.
They are badly wounded, and in shock.

@AllenK@new2this is a very experienced nurse giving you excellent trauma advice.

I always strive towards optimism but @Smuvers Farm and @21hens-incharge are both good people with many years of chicken experience between them and they cut through all the clutter and always state the truth when it comes advocating for the birds' best interest.

We will support you in whatever you decide.

Do you have a veterinarian you have a relationship with that you could put in a call to?
It would be good to hear the recommendation of a doctor of veterinary medicine as to what steps are the right ones to take according to the oaths they take.

I'm not suggesting you bundle them off to an all-night animal ER, the cost would be excessive and the outcome likely would be no different, but if you know your vet and have any way of having a conversation with them I would try to do so tomorrow.

Get them cleaned up and very warm. Let them sleep.
We can all regroup in the morning.

I am sending you hugs.

I have not seen a deep wound on #4. I cant keep her calm enough to get a good look. It seem like its just missing skin. I have a photo I'm sure the hole in it is the base of her wing View attachment 1241186
From this photo I am thinking the spinal column is exposed. It is so hard to tell as I don't have hands on it, but I would say I don't think she will make it(if that is her spine) and support the vote for humane euthanasia. This isn't a through and through type of wound, it probably would require a drain or two to remove fluid buildup from nearby body systems. Her body appears to me to be too badly damaged.

Mind you I am not a vetrenarian, but wow to save her would require much money. Secondary infection such as osteomyleitis of the spine is a certainty if that is indeed her spinal cord I see in this image, without and even possibly with vet treatment. I don't see a way to prevent infection economically in this bird.

Just be sure to give her and your daughters a rosebush or an appropriate planting to rememeber her wherever you bury her. I think the children who have bonded with an animal deserve that.

I would like to thank you all very much for your help. My daughters and I truly appricate it. We have done what we can tonight and all four of them seem to be resting in a nice warm dark room. I will post tomorrow. I will now go to new member and fill out the questions. Thanks again.

Debbie, Do that tomorrow. Tonight, you need some rest. Thanks your daughters for me. They were a huge help.
