I've got the same issue going on with a 20 week bantam pullet I've had since I got her from the feed store just days old. She's one of my favorites & should start laying anytime.

It's possible her eye was injured. Did she have respiratory symptoms like the op's bird did?

Not that I noticed, she does now that she's got so much swelling to her face, she was raspy when I was cleaning up her eye earlier, but not when she's at rest.

Awesome video, but what if there's not dried pus but only swollen pink flesh in the eye?
That's great, absolutely NOT wonderful! And future hatchlings? Other breeds of birds affected as well?

Remember chickens have a third eye lid with it's own lubricating duct. (see link below).

That's why the eye pus extractor (their technical name, lol) in one of the videos ran the straight edge of his forceps (ok, I might not have the exact tool name here) from the front of the eye to the back of the eye and got a bunch to come out. So you might just be looking at her first two lids - the other one opens the opposite direction, front to back, as opposed to up and down. Think of it like having two layers of windows. The first one goes up and down, but the second one is a slider.

SO the pus is likely behind the third eyelid on your bird. I haven't done this myself, happily haven't run into this problem, but have watched these extractions a number of times when I can find videos on them. It's tricky to get to the opening in the 3rd lid, especially when all those tissues are inflamed with hard pus stuck in there.

As for whether it's a disease process that will haunt the flock - it could be she just got something stuck behind that third eyelid. I'm not in any way making a determination on what you're seeing - but it's possible - if it's one of the icky things, my understanding is it spreads easily from bird to bird through contact. If she's the only one, it could just be something that happened to her. Definitely look into testing so you know whether this will impact you down the road.

UPDATE!!!!

So I finally got a call from the vet about what exactly is wrong with my Big Boys eye!!

So i have been working tirelessly trying to get my coup and our land cleaned and by clean i mean going out every other day changing water, feed, and their laying shakes/hay, giving the good coup a good scrub down, sanitizing EVERYTHING! and so much more.

So i took Big Boy about 2 1/2 weeks ago to the vet, they took blood and infectious gunk from his eye to get tested because at this point i have paid over $500 in prescription vet meds and vet visits, and i really wanted to know what this was so i could better prepare myself just in case this was Coryza or the Mycoplasmosis.

While there, they lanced both his eyes because at this point both were swollen shut, and the right one had puss but the left eye was just swollen tissue. The vet told me(which i figured on my own) that the sore on his right eye is where the infection was coming out.

Up to this point Big Boy has been eating great and drinking great! He still has his own sweet personality and has even started to like studying with me aka sleeping while i study.

So yesterday i finally get the call and the vet told me its E. Coli!! so we now have him on his 4th antibiotic and hopefully everything will be okay.

That is great news! I'm so happy it wasn't one of the other diagnosis, who knew there would be a day where you'd say "It's only E.coli!!!!" and be happy about it, right? LOL Thank you so much for posting an update. It's very helpful for people looking at similar problems with their birds to know what the outcome was.

What antibiotic did the vet prescribe? E. Coli was something we discussed early in the thread, and it can be treated with Baytril (enrofloxacin) or sulfadimethoxine, or perhaps others.

We decided amoxicillin since the baytril and others were not helping. Hopefully this med will.
