Hi!

My silkie hen is not feeling well. She is 2 years old. She eats, drinks and poops like normal, but she sits by herself all day and don’t look well at all. She’s not laying eggs and i think it could be egg bound. I’ve given her a warm bath twice with epsom salt and after the baths she sits like this (see picture). She pushes but nothing comes out. The area under her vent is hard on both left and right side. I can’t tell if there’s an egg I’m feeling but its something hard.

I would take her to the vet but its only one vet where I live and they don’t know much about chickens.

What could this be and what should I do?
She is wet from the bath, thats why she’s looking a bit weird on the picture.

Is she pooping normally? If she isn't pooping at all or if it is a small amount that can be an indication of being egg bound as well. The epson salt soaks can help. You can also give her calcium. Here are some quotes with info from an expert on BYC:
Since she laid those two shell-less eggs, she may have one stuck inside her. This could be the reason for the vent discharge and her lethagic behavior. Your instincts are good. Something is definitely wrong.

It can't hurt to go ahead and treat her for a stuck egg to be safe. Give her one calcium tablet, at least 500mg with vitamin D3. Give one each day for the next few days and let's see what happens.
Yes. Ordinary calcium tablets women take to prevent osteoporosis. It comes with D3 already added. I use calcium citrate, but calcium gluconate or carbonate will work.

Pop the whole pill right into her beak. It will go down easily.
Hope she is feeling better soon!
