Three days ago, I found a gal planing on moving and was selling her flock of laying hens and pullets. I requested two hens and she caught two and caged them for us. She lived in a neighboring town 1 1/2 hours away from our home. They are beautiful chickens and very calm and docile. One appears to be a rooster and has spurs. I called her back and she said that sometimes hens have spurs and she felt there were both hens. In the two days we have had them, we have gotten two greenish eggs. I would like opinions on whether or not we have a rooster or two hens and what breed they are. HELP!

Hens of some breeds can have spurs. Pictures and approximate age would be needed to help determine gender.

OOPS! forgot the pictures.

Did you get a chance to look at the pics posted? Age is unknown, but they appear very large in size. Larger than our Road Island Red and Leghorn both by 1/2 again and there 16 months.
I'm not seeing anything that makes me think they're males. The green eggs and coloring makes me think they might have some cream legbar in the mix.

It could also be because I'm obsessed with cream legbars, and want some to add to my flock, but I'm waiting until next spring.
