Please help

I'm very new to this, but is there a chance your feed might be bad? They may not be eating enough if so. I know I've seen other threads on here re: problems with Dumor, so maybe that could be the issue? You might see if you can return what you haven't opened and try something else. Hope you get some eggs soon!

Are you seeing any featherpicking, or anything like that?

The usual route is starter for the first couple of weeks, then grower or flock raiser until you see the first egg, then layer. Scratch may be cheap but you're getting what you pay for--it isn't suppose to be the main diet and may well fill them up so they won't eat what they need. It's like a kid filling up on snack food and not eating meals. Scratch is meant as a supplement, usually a treat.

hello everybody. I went to TSC today and bought 2 bags of Layena pellets and Dumor Starter. I brought it home and the chickens loved it. I fed them 15 lbs of pellets and 10lbs of starter. I have 50 chickens. I know that alot but I hope that this extra protein right there will get them to start laying quicker. And no there is no picking or anything like that. Thanks for the help. and if you have any thing else to say please feel free to. Thanks

I don't feed scratch because it is like candy for a growing chicken. I use BOSS/Black Oil Sunflower Seeds as a treat; great for their feathers. They got frozen yogurt/overripe bananas today to help with the 100 degree temps we have had for the last few weeks; they love it and it packs nutrition in each bite.

I switched from starter/grower recently to Purina Flock Raiser and added oyster shell when my first pullet laid her first egg the day she turned 16 weeks. I also give them all the fresh greens they will eat each day...clean out after they finish. They love grass so they get all the sticker grass that comes up in my beds from the stupid neighbor who mows right up to my fence and blows his weed seeds into my beds!
