PLEASE HELP!!!

Im getting more chicks that are being pecked at, are you sure the shoe polish is safe? It seems to make sense that it would cover the wound and heal it but Im kind of nervous putting anything on them that i wudnt use on myself. Please someone reply ASAP this is getting out of control.

If the chicks are in too small a space, they will peck at each other until you give them more room.
You are moving them outside "very soon", but in the meantime, it sounds like they need more room now.

If you need a bigger space for the chicks, the cheapest thing is ask a store for some boxes. Get the biggest you can find. If you have to, cut the sides of some boxes and join them with duct tape. We still don't know the size of your brooder area or how many chicks are in it.

Grit...you need it if you give your chicks grass. A box of parakeet grit from Walmart is cheap (cheep!)

Another thing that might help is to use a red light bulb...a bloody, pecked wound will be harder to see under red lighting.

I agree with Terrilacey..."very soon" will not prevent damage and possibly even death....I don't know what you have them in but I'd get them in something bigger today...even if I had to take some duct tape and tape some boxes together to make a big brooder!

I have 14 chicks in a cardboard box that is about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide, and i added more to it yesterday now it is over twice as big.

That should be much better space for them...hopefully the problems will stop! Keep us posted!
