Please Help!

Please Help! i have a turkey egg and its broken. the rounded end is completely gone and the membrane is broken. i could see him clearly threw the hole he is still alive. he was opening and closing his foot, and moving around he has 18 days left to go. i put the top of an egg that i had blown and washed at easter ( but did not paint) over the hole. its the size of a quarter. i couldn't find tape so i used band-aids and made a seal around the bottom of the new egg piece. has this ever happened to anyone, and did it live? did i do the right thing or should i try something else? he is currently back in the incubator. he is sitting in an egg carton cup to hold him upright. any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think that if you keep him upright and make sure the band-aids are on nice and tight it might just hatch, but dont take my word for it, i am a complete newbie compared to some of the people here on BYC. Good Luck

You shouldn't feel bad, you gave it a second chance it would normally not have had. If it hatches, congratulations, but if doesn't it just wasn't meant to be, it wouldn't be your fault. You tried your best.

thanks, we thought he was dead cause we candled him and all the others that where set with him and we didnt see him. so i crack them open by going threw the air sac. well when i did i saw blood and my lil sister wanted to see so she looked and i almost dropped him. well when i did that the membrane broke along with some blood veins. i looked and he was moving around so i started to think of ways to save him.

seal around the new shell with super glue, so he doesn't dry out. Thats the biggest danger. I have seal crack eggs like that.....good luck

will the chemicals in the super glue harm him?

no when they dye chicks in the shell , thats how they reclose the hole where dye was injected
