please help

hi,we have a buff sussex that is not well,she has not laid an egg for a week now and has a clearish mucus coming out of her mouth,she is not eating and wont even come out of her run when the others are out,earlier her poo was a luminous yellow.
her eggs have been ridiculously large and extremely brittle and very fragile for a long time now if that makes any difference,any help would be greatly appreciated.

The yellow poo indicates a severe bacterial infection. EYP comes to mind since she isn't laying and has had reproductive issues before. My advice to you would be to PM speckledhen..she is very knowledgeable in this area and will be a big help to you and your hen.

In Speckledhens signature says not to PM her about health matters or sexing. Just letting you know.
Sounds like a egg may have broke inside her? Is she getting oyster shells? Maybe some extra calcium.

Try PMing Dawg and see if he has seen this before. I might guess she has been egg bound and one broke in her and caused an infection. Especially since you talk about her eggs have been brittle and now she has not laid in a week. I'll research more in case Dawg is not avaolable

Ok. I am now going with egg drop syndrome.

What feed is she on? If she is on a complete feed then about the only thing you can do is some vitamins at this point. If she starts presenting other symptoms..then PM me. I cant stress enough about the importance of a good diet. Sometimes people tend to over do it on the scratch also and if they are not free ranging and filling up on scratch, then they wont eat their complete feed.

Egg drop syndrome is very rare in the US. I am told.
