hi, i just bought a lavender silkie hen from a lady and she is terrified of humans. she will make her "danger call" and start runnning in to walls to get away. i have tried putting her in a box and petting her, but she wont take or eat ANY food i give her. i have tried yogurt but all she does is lick it up when i smear it on her beak. she will stand on my lap, but when she goes off she runs away. i really want her to be like my other silkies who will come running to me when they see me. any ideas?

thank you so much!

Give her some time. If you've just bought her, she had a big change with the move. If you've got her separated for quarantine, she's also alone.
Just be very calm and quiet when you interact with her and keep offering treats from your hand. Eventually she'll figure out that you're not going to harm her and be your buddy.
I just moved a lone Silkie chick into the coop with my others. This chick hasn't had much handling at all other then me putting it into/taking it out of a box when I cleaned the brooder. I've been working with it and its coming around. It also helps that the others are picking on it a tad. It runs right to me now whenever I come to the coop. It still doesn't like to be picked up or touched that much, but it'll sit with me and eat from my hand. I think that's a good start :)

thanks! my only problem with her is that she wont touch food in m hand, but when i put it on the ground, she gobbles it up
