So my friend brought me a baby wood duck because its parents were killed. He brought it to me because I have experience raising peasants and quail but ducks are nothing like those other game birds. I only have him a couple of days because the fish and wildlife are coming to get it. The problem I'm having is I can't get it to eat anything or not 100% sure on what to feed it. What should I do?

From all I have read it is very hard to get wood ducklings to eat, you will have to show the baby the food or maybe put another one of your chicks or pheasants chicks in with it that already knows how and can show it, All the best.

Tap you fingers in the food dish next to the duckling, it should start its instinct to peck. If not lightly and gently tip it's bill into the food. You can try something really tasty at first. It should be on a non medicated chick starter, but try using puréed peas, or chopped up meal worms. Just make sure the duckling is also drinking water at feeding times, and make sure anything you give it is small
