Please, I desperately need information!

By "do their own", I meant abdominal surgery to remove bits of yolk, fluid, etc. I'm not recommending anyone try it, just though you might want to know about it... I'll see if I can find the thread for you. FWIW, I drained one of mine about a week ago and she's doing okay, but I know she won't be around much longer.
It probably is, I know that some people are able to do something along those lines for eggbound hens. I defiantly wouldn't do it myself, but my dad is a vet, and if it ends up being something we could do on a regular basis that will help her, then I'll defiantly look into it. Thanks for mentioning that, I wouldn't have thought of doing much besides just draining the fluid.

And I'm sorry to hear about your hen, I love these birds to death but looking after them means that your day can go from a very high high to a very low low in only an instant.

Is it possible to remove a chicken's ovaries?
It may be, but I'm not sure that once this problem has developed if it will help. I suppose I could ask the vet, though. I know birds are very fragile so I won't do anything unless I'm 300% sure it's a very low risk surgery with high rate of recovery.
