Please look at this pic of my goslings foot.

She was hatched out with this crooked foot, I don't think it is splayed leg but I've never had anything hatch with any problems so I don't know. Anyone have any advice or should I put her down.

Awwww what a precious baby! If he can get around ok, the crooked foot will probably not affect his quality of life. There are people out there that would put him down, but personally I have a couple of geese with deformed legs and/or feet and they are perfectly happy.

Like lain utah said, if he can get around and walk to get to food and water he will be ok and be able to live a descent life. I have two ducklings that cant walk a straight line, hatched that way, they are now 16 days old and doing great they arent wobbly just zig zag but they make it to their food and water just
fine. I also have 2 chickens with crooked feet like your gosling and they are my best laying hens. I hatched them out myself and they are now 3 yrs old. Dont give up on him, he can learn to live with his disability.

Looks like the little one can stand OK. You could take and put his foot onto a piece of cardboard and draw around the foot. Cut it out and then make a slide one sock and tape it to the leg. Maybe there is someone out there that can make a foot corrector for the gosling.

Thanks for all the replies, I have seen some improvement as far as mobility goes. I have tried exersizing the foot a little. I can tell it is not comfortable for her but she is up a lot more than she was the first few days. She can get to food and water and I have a high grass run I can keep her in. Thanks so much, I'm so glad I did not put her down.

We have a silkie who has a messed up foot. She was given to us by a breeder who was going to cull her. My husband thought she was adorable so we took her. She is a joy to have. She is such a lovebug and enjoys the extra attention but can hold her own against her sister and another young silkie male we have. She also takes no guff from the other chickens, geese or ducks.
