I am getting chickens next week and I do NOT want roosters!!!!! I only want hens. Is there any way to tell what gender they are when they are newly born?

where do you plan on getting them from ? hatchery ? tsc?
you could get sex links red or black
male are one color and females are different for example red sex link male chicks are yellow and females are red.
if they have a pullet bin where you are getting them from they would all be female unless someone mixed them up
what are your plans for the chickens ? eggs ?
I'm new to this you will get better answers.
I have red sex links I bought them at 18 weeks old

No, you cannot tell the sex of those yourself. That requires vent sexing, an art that most folks don't know and must be done immediately at hatch. If you buy them already sexed, that is the way to go.

I don't know that much about chickens but I believe that production red males and females are the same color. They should be separated in a production red pullet bin, as long they were sexed correctly and no one mixed them up in the bins you should be OK

Hens develope faster. At a day old there should be wing feathers. Some breeds even tail feathers.

I :love production reds

The truth is that there is no reliable way to sex a Production Red at that age that wasn't already vent sexed unless the line was bred for feather sexing and you'd have to know how to do that and hope they were bred specifically for that trait.
