Sounds like he could have heat exhaustion. Especially the throwing up and wings out. You need to get him nice and cool I have heard people take ice packs and hold them under their chickens wings to cool them down--this is the hottest place on a chickens body. They pedialyte or gatorade or something with electolytes needs to be given. I would give him a wet mash--but don't force him to eat or drink as this often makes them vomit and can cause aspiration. good luck!

Fixed the pic, just put the url, highlight it, and click the "Img" button. That should make it show up. As for the rooster, he probably soaks up heat really well, try to cool him down and keep him hydrated for now.

put electrolytes/vit (durvet is a common brand sold in feed stores or diluted childrens pedialyte can be used until you get them)...
keep dribbling along his beak (do not squirt in the beak) every half hour or so until he is able to drink on own.
keep quiet (no stress) and and cool.

WHile you have him still, check him all over for mites/lice on his body, particularly around his vent. Mites/lice can take a bird down quickly.

Did you say his weight was good when you picked him up? NO sharp keep bone? What is he normally eating?

He's a dark color, and it's quite hot outside. I'd suspect heat exhaustion first - but want to rule out other things as well. It'll be important that he continues to eat and drink. As dlhunicorn pointed out, dribble water into the side of his beak. Along with their recommended vitamins/electrolytes, you can also dissolve some of his food into that water til it's just slightly thicker than water and use that to give him a little nutrition.

My concern is going to be his crop. You say that he 'threw up'. You'll want to check his crop and make sure that whatever is there now is gone in the morning - no food should really remain when he wakes up first thing in the morning. If it's not emptying, that might be part of the problem.

As for his droppings, are there any worm-like solid parts to it - or is it all one color and runny? What color? What does he normally eat?

Thanks for the help guys

Ahhh, that makes sense. I'm very sorry to hear that you lost him. Godspeed to the little fella. And bless you for trying to help him out.

May I please ask how you finally determined he had Mareks?
