I need help and fast! One of my duck eggs seem to of started chipping but not broke the membrane and there is no chirping or movement and it seems quite stuck on does the membrane what do I do????
Do you mean external pipping? You can poke just the tiniest hole in the membrane to make sure that it can breathe. Don't remove any shell or make the hole bigger, just a little rip in the membrane is enough. It's not ready for the world yet, it still has a lot of yolk absorbing to do. It's gonna sit there for up to 2 days before it starts to zip, so be patient.
Or did you mean it has started zipping with the membrane intact? Leave it to its own device for a while until it seems ready to push itself out. Then you can safely help it by taking off the top half of the egg so it gets free.
Hatching is very tiring. He will be taking breaks. Give him some more time, but just keep an eye on him.
I wouldn't assist until 48 hours after the first pip, or if there was an exception.
