Please Post Pictures Of The Bottom Of Your Ducks Feet(Bubble Feet?)

With this cold, I'm seeing what might be bubble blisters on Ming-Mings feet but want to make sure what I am seeing is or isn't normal. I look at Oreos foot, and she doesn't seem like she has them on hers as bad. But she goes and lays on the hay more then he does. So is this normal??

Oreo's Left Birth Defect Foot she doesn't stand on, as you can see now bubbles on her foot because she can't stand or lay directly on it.

Most of the whitish areas look pretty normal to me - But Ming Ming does have a little spot there that looks different. On the right foot - the middle toe has two areas- but one looks to have a tiny brown spot in the middle. Bumble Foot is an infection that can look 10 times worse than that- but it could be start off something if not checked. It is a little hard to tell from just the photo- can you tell by looking if that is a little scab and if there is any swelling underneath. Its probably nothing to worry about at this stage- but you could try to take off the scab ( if it is one) and give the area a good clean and apply antiseptic cream.

Yes, that spot looks to be a scab or something but I just tried to pick it off and squeeze it to see if anything would come out, and I can't get the brown scabby part off or anything to come out. It looks maybe he stepped on something shaprp and has a pin hole that healed over.

No, they don't have Bumblefoot. In fact, they look awesome for duck feet. Ducks are very prone to bumps, callouses, and even cracks on the bottom of the feet. Bumblefoot is an actual staph infection. If they were infected, it would look much worse. The area of the infection can grow quite large and will have a scab on top (usually). Often when I see people here being advised about Bumblefoot it is clear the bird in question doesn't even have it, as people are quick to assume any foot blemish is that.

Anyway, yours don't have Bumblefoot. In a group of Runners we rescued several months ago, every one of them had Bumblefoot. In some areas, the infected "plug" with scab was the size of marbles. Amazing that they could even walk. Yours look to be in great condition. Just keep them constantly with dry bedding and if possible, a place to swim, and Bumblefoot should be avoided. It is definitely good practice to check them periodically to make sure they are fine.

Thank you very much I feel so much better now! I do bring the ducks in the house to warm up for a while and now that it is bitterly cold outside instead of a pool I now put them in the bath tub as well. So, we are all good and I'm glad.

I wanted to also mention it looks like Oreo's good foot, her right foot the flipper is shrinking. Because she is tripping more, unable to move even through a dusting of snow without falling over. It is quite sad :-(

I was actually amazed from the photo that it was still as big as it was. When ducks dont use one leg much like Oreo - the foot will wither in time - its the muscles shrinking from lack of use. My Regie has her foot completely curled up now- and even her good foot has very narrow webbing because of her constant hoping. Excising the foot by moving it around manually will help a little- swimming is also a good way for her to exercise it. But being that she is disabled- ultimately it will get worse over time no matter what you do.

The left foot pictured in the last is her disabled foot, and I do have to part the foot to get the flipper to spread out like I did for the picture, and the good foot, my son and I have been noticing if you look at the webbing you'll see how the left web is nice and smooth, and the right 2cd to last picture is beginning to dip down and look rigid and not smooth. KWIM?
