If you are referring to euthanasia, when an animal has no hope for recovery and is suffering, it's the kindest (and hardest) thing you can do for him/her. I helped one of my hens just last night. She is no longer suffering and I'm happy for her. It doesn't mean I love her any less.

I know, but I feel like its not my choice. Sorry about your hen by the way
