Hi!
this is my 2nd time incubating chicken eggs, unfortunately I was unsuccessful the first time and did not have any chicks hatch.
I tried again with buff Orpington chick eggs today is day 23 yesterday I saw one of the eggs moving And herd lots of chirping I have played videos of others chick chirping for the egg and got lots of reaction, today I’ve only seen it move in the egg.
my question is once your hear chirping or see movement from inside the egg is there an excepted or average amount of time there is before the chick begins to break the shell? Any reply would be appreciated as I am growing Impatient! FYI I have a store bought incubator not a hen.

Thank you for the response
I have another question for anyone who can answer
My 1st question is there any what I can safely seed up the process as it is day 23 and I hear chirping and see the egg rocking.
My 2nd question is when is it necessary to begin an assisted hatch I am really hoping I won’t have to do an assisted hatch but I think it would be good to know if it’s necessary at one point.
Any reply is greatly appreciated!

Just let them hatch when they are ready.

Assisted hatches are very rare and you will see plenty of posts on here from people that did more harm than good.

Now, go sit on your hands and wait. If you didn't have a properly calibrated thermometer and hydrometer, your hatch date may be later than typical.

Waiting is the hardest part. Pretend you're back a couple decades when dads had to sit in the waiting room for their kids to be born, wishing they were waiting at the tavern instead, but knowing there may not be other kids if mom found out that's where he spent his time. There is nothing you can do to hurry it. Mother Nature has her own schedule and the results aren't always great when someone tries to mess with it.

Thank you! I think the more I go to check on the egg the more I want to fiddle with it! I think I will just check on the egg every couple of hours!

I have a chick in the egg chirping. My first two didn't hatch  so I'm a little anxious that I am doing something wrong with my store bought incubator. These are Silver Seabright eggs and I've heard they're really hard to incubate and keep baby chicks alive.
