Please Respond!! Why Aren't My Chickens Laying???!!!

We got some hens and they aren't laying eggs at all. Susposely they don't need a rooster to help lay eggs{I don't think that I worded that correctly}. Then we have another hen that use to lay All the time and now she ain't laying at all. I occasionally see the rooster mate with her and still nothing. What the heck is going on here??!! Help!!

Remember, hens are not machines. They are living creatures, affected by all sorts of stresses and influences. A rooster has nothing to do with whether a hen is laying or not laying, unless he is mating her so much, he is the stress. That might stop her from laying, not ever start her up.

If you just got some, they are stressed by a change of location. Takes time for them to settle in. And if you are feeding them properly, eventually, they should start laying (If they are indeed hens).

You'd be surprised at how many folks have posted that their newly acquired hens are not laying, with pictures of the birds, only to be told that someone sold them roosters. It happens.

Post up a picture.I had a hawk scare my flock one day & didn't get eggs for a month.Their funny little dinosaurs that if something rocks their little world they stop laying until they feel content again.

This stupid site won't allow me to post pics. I wanted to change my profile pic and wouldn't let me. The only thing I can think that would scare them is either the cats{they see those everyday and so they are use to them} or the dang raccoons.

I have no advice about the laying, but as for posting pics....Are to trying to do it from a device, such as a camera or phone?

I had been posting pics for a long time right from my camera, but they changed it and now I have to load them onto my computer first, then I can post them. Try that.

maybe they are molting. my place looks like a group of people had a HUGE pillow fight, feathers everywhere. My egg numbers are down due to the molt

Well I've been trying to load pictures from the internet. And its not letting me.
