Is that size comb standard in 4-5 week old RIR? Could that be just a lucky roo? I have 6 RIR that dont have anything NEAR that size... possibly all pullets?

I am not super experienced but I would say that first pic is a roo, for sure!

I have a feeling he might be that way. He doesn't like me grabbing the other chicks. He jumps and bites at me. Cute now- but when he's big, not so much. Especially with my boys. I had no plans to keep roos, my dad had a horrible experience with his last year. He ordered all pullets and ended up with one rooster. They got attached to him and gave him a chance, and one day out of the blue he flogged him. (Scratched his leg up through his pants.) Needless to say, no more roosters at their place. I've always been scared of them, but some of them are so pretty

So only time will tell I suppose. BUT, I haven't read many positives about RIR roos
