I wondered about that...mine are, and have been always, much darker than that.....
Well. I guess you get what you pay for, I ordered a dozen eggs on ebay back when and only 3 hatched.. THey were orderd as Melanistic Blacks... which is the one Im looking for... IF your telling me they arent the ones I wanted, Melanistic... then I guess Im wrong... I keep looking at them.. the color looks great as it comes in, but they look like half and half...
Do you have any eggs or chicks for sale, Preferably chicks..
Im looking for the ones you posted... nice dark animals... Please let me know.

You can tell from the female that they are Melanistic Mutants but as they mature, the males which you have two from what I understand of the pictures, will get darker and black i.e. the mutation will complete. It's like the Silver Pheasants do not get white until it's at full maturity which can take up to two years. I was able to get a pair of black/green melanistics (these are about 8 monts old) from the folks that raise over 1000 ringnecks for release/hunting. Every now and then where there are lots of ringnecks you get one or two mutants. Contact those local breeders and you may get them for 12 or 15 bucks. (especially if you show up with a six pack). It's how I got mine and lucky them that these will not get hunted cause I just want to look at them. Still think you got nice birds.
