PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME I CANT STOP CRYING ~UPDATED may 7th~

Oh, that would've freaked me out. I hope you can work it out the best way possible, with direct, clear communication and possibly a good fence! It's funny how some people don't respect boundaries.....until you draw them out real clear-like. You have the support of chicken people. Good luck.

Nope! You just go and get the fence and put it up!

It won't shock enough to kill them, just scare the pee-doodle out of them!

Shooting your dog is bad. Those kids have problems. Keep them out of your yard and away from your kids and animals!!!

honestly post the fence as no trespass and hook it up to a hotwire ,
they will learn quickly not to come over, you by law have to post it
as hot, maby just them seeing you mess with it and a electric fence sign
would do it but I would charge it make hot cattle charges arn't that much
and they'll grab it once ......brats

Call the police and put up a no trespassing sign. Stop it now before more happens!
Kids that do this tend to do it again. Its such a shame.....So sorry it happened.

I'd like to know how the conversation went with the kid's father before I say anything. I hope they do something about their kids!!!! I wouldn't hesitate to put a lock on my pen and run. It'll give you peace of mind and keep them safe from 4 legged preditors too. Sorry about the day.

Were the parents home while their kids were terrorizing the neighborhood? Why weren't they watching them??? I would remind those parents how much money people get when a dog they own attacks someone's chickens...do they want a lawsuit? Then KEEP TRACK OF YOUR STINKING KIDS!!!
Thanks god none of them were seriously hurt...maybe pepper-spray the next little poo who trespasses...that'd be the last time...you shouldn't have to spend a fortune on a fence, the kids should learn to respect your property! You should be able to rent a guard rottweiler...hmmm...good business idea...

I'm sorry you and your peeps had a rough day...

Oh my! Im sooo sorry for you, what a terrible experience!

I have five babies who are six weeks old so I understand how protective you feel.
If money is too tight (as it is for so many these days) Id go with the sudgestion about putting a combination lock on your coop and run doors. I dont know that Id call the police at this stage, but I would warn them and their parents that youve considered it and will next time (I pray there isnt a next time)

For now, cheer up, wash your face and have some chocolate!! Your birds are all alive and will get over it, have a good evening!

It's really unfortunate you have to deal with this, and no you are not overreacting. So many kids are not taught any respect for others property and it's amazing how many kids have no regard whatsoever for animals. I would fear for my pets as long as neighborhood kids have access to your yard. Secure fencing, and locks, though it will cost some, are the only way to really secure your property. I'm really a proponant of a few nice tingley strands of hot wire as well! They just give an unpleasant zap, they don't hurt the kid. We had terrible problems with stray dogs, stray cats as well as stray people (!) on our property untill we finally put up a secure fence and turned a couple dogs loose inside.
Yeah, it was expensive but the problem does not exist anymore so it was well worth it.

BTW, how did your husbands talk with the parents go?

OMG!

What is wrong with these parents and the kids, for them to think it is OK to trespass and be cruel to animals!?

Argh! I would be P.O.ed too if it happened to me. I agree, you need a fence and a no trespassing sign...Maybe a high powered hose...hehe

I am glad to hear that your babies were unharmed.

I have locks on all the gates and the run. They all take the same key so I just grab it when I go outside.I only let my girls out of the run when IM outside. It's to bad you can't go in the house for a minute and not worry about the neighbors kids.

You should be able to pound stakes into the ground all around your property that say's NO TRESSPASSING ! If that doesn't work you will probably have to fence it.

How are you going to keep your chickens off other peoples property if your yard isn't fenced?

I know people on BYC that have security cameras/alarms on the hen house and run because of situations like this.
