This is the first time I've ever raised chickens. I purchased 6 at TSC out of the mixed bin. I have no idea what type they are or sex, but reading some of your comments and seeing pics of others I'm thinking I've got more roos than hens.

The top few look like roos. The bottom three look like hens. In the fourth pic from the bottom, there is a hen to the left and a roo to the right.

Okay then, they're all girls.

The birds in the first four photos all look like boys and the one in the back of photo #5 looks like a rooster, too. I'm not sure about the breed.

So hens won't have red crowns? Do you have any idea what kind of chickens they are?

Also I noticed at night, one of the roos will be in one nest with 2 and then one of the other roos will be in one nest with 2. The large one with the black likes to peck at me, he is not scared he comes right up to me and flaps his wings and pokes his chest out, it is funny. The lighter color one I thought was a hen because it likes to lay in the nest alot or even when outside it likes to kick up the dirt and make a nice laying place so I was really hoping that one was a hen. Oh well, how soon before I will need to seperate them? I only have 6 and more than likely will have to find homes for all but one roo. I really just wanted egg laying hens.
