Hi all. I am sure this amazing chicken of mine is a cockerel, but I am so, SO, hoping you all will tell me I am wrong and he is a pullet. He is the nicest, friendliest little guy, and my kids are very attached. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to have roosters where we live, so I fear there is a super sad day in our near future.

I have no idea what breed he is, but he is 8 weeks old. It’s a lot of comb and waddle for 8 weeks, right? But, here is to hope!!😆

There’s about a 1% chance that he’s a pullet by the color and size of his comb. He’s gorgeous though! Hopefully you can rehome him to somewhere he will be happy and live a long life. It’s always sad to rehome a cockerel once you’re attached 😔

Thank you. It will be sad indeed.

Yep that's an awful lot of comb and wattle! Such a pity. We held on to a chick that turned out to be a cockerel some time ago - if you aren't allowed roosters due to noise Id say hold on to him until he starts to crow as ours turned out to be pretty quiet and only sounded off a handful of times per day. Best of luck !
