Okay, so the incubator was holding steady at 100.1 degrees for 2 weeks. Got the eggs, put them in on Sunday night. Been keepin an eye on them, the temp is stayin pretty steady. Dipped down to 98 degrees this morning, but was back up to 100 by 9 am.

Got home from work (I only work 4 hours, and it's a 5 minute drive to work), and the temp is 102.

Please tell me they'll be okay from that short little spike. I dunno what happened, but I popped the lid off and turned them (was getting ready to do that anyway), and the temp was reading at 98 when I put the lid back on. *takes a deep breath and hopes*

They're chicken eggs, if that helps any, being held in a Lil Giant still-air incubator.

If you have a still air incubator, the temp at the top of the eggs needs to be 101.5 - 102.0.. You only need 99.5 - 100.5 if you have a fan... As for the temp drop, as long as it don't stay low for too long, it may take an extra day or so to hatch but otherwise they will be fine.. but if you keep the temp too low then you may lose a lot of them..

my power went off last week and i had to wrap my eggs in towls put them under a cardboard box with 4 covered candles which my friend who is a breeder told me to do i went into a major panic she told me small shifts in tempreture for short periods of time are ok and not to drastic i hope its the same as this for slight higher fluxs too but im sure someone will be able to tell you 100% on this

I will tell you that most of them will be okay. I have had mine jump to 104 overnight and drop to 94 for a 6 hours in the morning after adjusting. Still hatched, but I think the hatch rate was somewhat affected.

Cool, thanks guys. Goddess, I didn't realize that I could get away with it being warmer since it's a still-air. Very, very good to know. The drop was for no more than maybe 4 hours...I had gotten up to let the cat in earlier that night, and the temp was normal. I'm assuming it's because the temp outside dropped like a rock, and I still had the fan in my room going full-blast. I know I froze!!

Hopefully, all will be okay.
