Silkies are notoriously hard to visually ID, to the point where theres a business for DNA testing them
Honestly I feel like at this point I should be qualified to determine roos just based on if I want to keep it! 🤣 My choices, while striking and great personalities have been almost all roosters🤦🏼‍♀️

I've raised and bred silkies for about 9 years, and trust me, if I could sex them in any less time than three months, usually four months, I'd be making a LOT more $$ when selling them.

We can all say that's a pullet, and we stand a 50% shot at being right. :)

It's very cute and going to be a beautiful adult!

Several actually! They've made it more affordable now to have a silkie DNA testing lab right in your own home. A friend of mine on BYC does it now for herself and friends. That still cost her a couple thousand I believe to get started, but much less than it used to be. It once was $20 per chick, now they're as low as $5 I've seen. $8 is what I pay.

Okay. Your cockerel is a hen. :lau
No, no, JUST KIDDING! Seriously, I have no idea if this bird is a cockerel, a pullet or ... a rabbit. I'm just having a little fun with you bc of the title of your thread. Please don't be mad at me.
Hey as long as I can tell my husband someone online said they thought he i can keep until I figure out who to move out of the flock. Im 4 roosters deep right now, but I love them soooo.....maybe bachelor flock.. if I can swing it
