PLS HELP, PEACHICKS WITH PUFFY ITCHY EYES

Well GREAT news, after more investigating, I have found the eyes had sand/dirt (in every infected eye) so they were flushed yesterday, and this morning..... next to normal eyes..... I am over the moon!! I did catch some guineas on the outside of thier pen scratching up a mess... right in thier faces!! Never had this happen before, but I suppose a first for everything.

Great news, CONGRATS, glad you got to the bottom of it!
LOL my eyes are itchy puffy and watery after a major dust storm too!
Now how about some yogurt or some probiotics to counteract the effects the baytril may have had on the good bacteria in their systems?

Wow that is an unexpected twist...I can just picture the peachicks looking at the guineas and having sand kicked in their face. Maybe next time they won't get so close when the guineas are scratching. I am glad you found what the problem was.

3 ccs of Baytril SQ for Peachicks? Isn't that the dosage for full grown Peas?

Thanks Peeps, I did give the dose for my adult peas, don't know why I added the 3cc at the end. I knew he said he was using baytril orally and that I did not know how quickly it works that way cause I usually give my birds the injection just under the skin. I think I added the 3 ccs thinking what I give my birds - it was almost 4am LMAO!
Sending you a PM

I'm really thrilled! This arvo gave them a mega platter of all sorts of goodies..... as usual straigh to the mealworms........ then grapes..... then look at the rest like it's poison LOL. Yoghurt, hmmm I thought birds were lactose intolerant? But the bacteria eat the lactose is this correct? Maybe I'll do yoghurt dipped mealies.

I've never heard/read that poultry was lactose intolerant before.. lol, I know mine definitely aren't. Lots of poultry keepers/breeders feed their birds yogurt on a regular basis as a treat and/or as "digestive maintenance", some just use it after worming, or a round of antibiotics to help rebuild/re-balance the population of the beneficial microbes that get knocked down by the antibiotics or wormer. Probiotics that you can buy from feed/pet supply stores in powder form or in a tube are the same thing, live beneficial microbes. (Yogurt's cheaper tho and the birds think they are just getting some extra yummies!).

All my Guineas and Peas gobble up yogurt (and sling it everywhere, lol). I only feed them plain yogurt tho, nothing flavored or sweetened cuz they don't need the sugar. Sometimes I'll add diced bananas and grapes to it or mix in some plain cooked oatmeal, but either way they will scarf it down, they are pigs, lol.
