I don't know if I've ever called a chicken my best friend...but I have called them my babies. I think of them more as my children or pets, though I've had chickens I absolutely LOVED. I once ran into the road to save a chicken....so yeah, I'm a little chicken crazy!!! I think everyone on this site is lol

Your not crazy because I call my flock my babies/children. I will be in the middle of a conversation with someone and say "yeah I have to go take care of my kids" or "I have to get them to bed" and they look at me were cause they don't know I call my chickens, my babies.
