I took the plunge and bought an electric scalding pot. It takes a while to heat it up but it gets the water temp perfect. I test it with a meat thermoniter.
(If I put hot water in it it will hold that heat and it cuts the heating time.)
The dish soap trick is awesome and really makes a difference.
When the water is at the perfect temp the feathers just come off so easily.
Make sure to always pluck the wing & tail feathers first as these are the hardest feathers to pluck. Ofcourse with a perfect scald they will just come out with the slightest tug.
