Plucking - We had a hard time!

I took the plunge and bought an electric scalding pot. It takes a while to heat it up but it gets the water temp perfect. I test it with a meat thermoniter.
(If I put hot water in it it will hold that heat and it cuts the heating time.)
The dish soap trick is awesome and really makes a difference.
When the water is at the perfect temp the feathers just come off so easily.

Make sure to always pluck the wing & tail feathers first as these are the hardest feathers to pluck. Ofcourse with a perfect scald they will just come out with the slightest tug.

Remember those finger holders at the fairs where you put a finger in each end and it holds them tight when you pull? We discovered that the wing and tail feathers will come out real easy if you do the same thing with them as you do to release the finger holder!! Give it a try! It might take a little fiddling until you catch on, but it works great!
