I was awarded three chickens the other day for helping my brother move since he would not be able to take care them any longer. One appears to be a barred rock or cuco marran the othe is golden in color the last one appers to be a rooster perhaps some kind of red mix. None the less I was happy to add to the flock. Then I came home from work yesterday to discover my dogs crunching on the biggest of my Rhode Island Red hens. It wasn't their fault so I did not get mad. She had flown out of the coup area (6 foot fencing mind you) and over the 4 foot fence to the "dog yard". So she in my opinion committed suicide. But at least I have two more hens to replace her with. Right?
