Mr. Chicken is just over 4 months old. Our chicks were picked up on March 28th. He's a handsome and very healthy bird. He is doing his rooster duties of mating, crowing, and watching over his flock. We would love to keep him, but the neighbor has informed us that his crowing is bothering their son who works nights and sleeps during the day.
He is not aggressive, a bit apprehensive, but still very curious. He will eat out of your hand if he trusts you. Since he is young I cannot guarantee future temperment. He is a very alert watcher and seems to always have a eye on the sky. He stands in the doorway of the coop to make sure danger has passed after an alarm was raised. He has grown up around a dog who has shown little interest in chickens. Our flock has the opportunity to free range a few hours a day and he has done well watching over everyone during the foraging expeditions. I think he has the makings of a good flock rooster.
